AmeriCorps has placed hundreds of thousands of volunteers in intensive service roles each year, typically with host nonprofits, since it was formally established in 1993. Recently an AmeriCorps NCCC team was serving in southeast PA, working with PAVOAD agencies, Antietam Valley Long Term Recovery Group and the SEPA LTRG. in April, the team was recalled because the program was terminated. The members of the team lost their stipends and will only receive prorated education awards. They will no longer receive the program-provided health insurance.
