As August slowly comes to an end, we are reminded that Fall is around the corner and soon the leaves will start to turn. During this time of the year many families, teachers and organizations also begin getting ready for Back to School! While preparing for back to school, please remember that disasters can happen at any time, and all members of the community can prepare. Preparing for the future begins now. Kids can learn about disaster preparation through playing Disaster Games, talking with their guardians about family emergency planning or building a kit. Families can also prepare by having conversations on what to do if a disaster occurs. Teachers and organizations play an important role in disaster preparation because the more everyone in the community is prepared, the more resilient we can all be when an incident occurs. Let us all get ready for back to school by staying focused on what we can do to make sure everyone is disaster ready! For more information visit https://www.ready.gov/kids |
